This car has just been sitting, waiting for a makeover. Well, with the prodding of Kirk Binder, it's finally going to happen. Here's the current state of the car:

  • Make, Model & Year of Car: 1969 Camaro
  • Car's History: Was a customer's car at one time, he got a divorce and wanted to sell it. I just happened to be the first one with $10,000.
  • Engine: 454 +.060, 11.5 compression, semi-open cast iron heads, solid cam 260'/266' @ .050.
  • Ignition System: MSD dist. and 6A
  • Induction System: Old Edelbrock manifold that has the carb at an angle, Holley electric fuel pump, Holley 850 carb, 50/50 fuel mix
  • Exhaust System: Hooker 2" headers, H-Pipe, Flowmasters, dump at axle
  • Cooling System: Stock
  • Oiling System: Stock
  • Transmission: Powerglide and 10" Converter
  • Suspension: Stock springs and shocks, slapper bars, 12 bolt with 4.10 gears
  • Brakes: Stock drum
  • Wheels & Tires: 15X8 Welds, sticky street tires on rear.
  • Interior: Stock buckets with back seat, roll bar
  • Best ET: 11.28 with 250# in the trunk to get it to hook.

Here's the plan: We want to be able to drive to the track, not change a thing, go high 10s and drive it home. What's the challenge? We want to do it on a budget, with pump gas, 4.10 gears and without nitrous.

The current engine makes 535hp. I'm guessing we'll have to make 575hp to go 10s. The only problem? We're losing compression to allow for pump gas. Follow along as we try to make it happen.
