Cal-Tracs

We'll admit it, we don't have much experience with leaf spring race cars. It quickly became clear while talking to others that we had to install some Cal-Tracs. This product may be the most significant improvement to come to stock suspension drag racing in 30 years.

Here's a breakdown of the components in the Cal-Trac traction system.

Remove the tires, the U-bolts, and shocks. Raise rear end housing and the support with jackstands. Then remove rear spring assemblies.

Press FRONT spring eye bushing out. Replace with aluminum CalTracs. Now, you're ready to install the CalTracs.

Install the Steel Insert through the pivot and front spring eye bushing. Now, reinstall the springs using the original hardware.

Lower the rear axle assembly on to the springs. Install the supplied Rear Mounts as you would the stock items being replaced. Attach shocks.

Now the Force Transfer Link can be installed. For an initial setting, have the driver in the car, turn the Force Transfer Link until the Spring Stop Bolt just contacts the upper surface of the spring.
